NAAFA members participate in “Million Pound March”, hunger strike

NAAFA protestIn protest of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign to fight childhood obesity, the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, or NAAFA, enlisted all 1,000 of its members in what they hailed as a “Million Pound March”.  The protest started a block away from the White House.  Concerned over its members, NAAFA set up a feeding station at the halfway point of the route.  Nearly half of the march participants made it all the way to the White House to join in a hunger strike, which lasted approximately one hour.

“We want to send the strongest message possible that NAAFA will not tolerate the starvation and forced physical exertion of our children”, Frances White, NAAFA co-chair, wrote in a press release after the march.
