Anderson Cooper, host of CNN’s AC360, found himself caught in the middle of anti-government riots while filming in Haiti. With flying rocks coming in from all directions, Cooper picked up a young boy that was standing nearby and held the child in front of him as a human shield while he escaped to safety. “My survival instincts definitely kicked in”, Cooper remarked on his show last night. Noting that the child had taken a rock to the head while being held, Copper defended his actions. “It was either me or that little Third World urchin.”
Emails coming into AC360 were overwhelmingly supportive of Cooper’s actions. One viewer noted that many fans would’ve immolated themselves had Cooper been fatally injured in the riot.
